Afro Punk Festival 2012

Yesterday, I attended the first day of the Afro Punk 2-day festival. Afro Punk, also known as the "other Black experience", had a big bash in the Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn. At the time I went, there were no major performances. I assume, it was too early in the day. There was a unknown band that was hyping the crowd up, while there was a couple of skateboarding performances.  I briefly seen the twin-designer-duo Coco & Breezy near their booth, at the festival. Outside of the park, there were plenty of food vendors like the famous Gorilla Cheese truck. The young and old came out to support Afro Punk event. There was hundreds of people that shared a common bond. The bond of being the odd-man-out. Multicultural people, enjoying punk, rock, hip-hip, and a little R&B wrapped into one. Everyone who dares to be different were in full effect at Afro Punk. This festival, was cancelled last year due to a Hurricane watch throughout the Country. This year, a little cloudy weather, did not stop on-goers, and passerby's from joining the festivities. I really wanted to see Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu perform however, there was no set time on performance times according to my knowledge. Overall, I had a great time. The music and energy was amazing.
