Almost 11 months natural & loving it! |
I want to apologize for neglecting my blog for a few months. I want to share that this blog has made it to 1 full year as being an active website. I started this blog back in 2010, and did not expect to learn and grow through my adventures of writing. Happy September 1st everyone!!! I can't believe the year is almost over. I have been extremely busy, and it's taking a bit of a total on my overall wellness... I will pull through this though!
I want to share with you all my journey with my hair as a young woman with natural hair. On October 30th, I will be 1 year natural! This has been an amazing journey. I did not expect to make this this far. There were days where I would literally battle my hair and love it the next day. I went through a phase for a couple of months after the big chop. I felt my hair should have been a 3c texture all over. I have learned to embrace the different curls and coils that roam through my lovely 'fro. My hair is a mixture of 3c/4a with more coils that curls. I noticed my hair has a lot of shrinkage, that can only be combatted by twisting/braiding and using gel to weigh it down. I'm happy with my curls and coils, and wouldn't have it any other way!

My curl pattern |
This was my hair yesterday with Kinky Curly Curling Custard (KCCC). I did not use a leave-in product... I just spritzed my hair with water and applied the KCCC to my hair in small sections. My hair dried with less shrinkage. My hair was a little over a week old (dirty) in this picture. My hair is more of a 4a texture with a few sections of 3c.
The products I currently use are as follows:
- Karen's Body Beautiful's Sweet Ambrosia hair milk/leave-in
- Kinky Curly Curling Custard
- Shea Moisture's Raw Shea Butter Retention conditioner
- Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (Any brand that is USDA Organic)
- Curl Junkie's Curl Rehab deep conditioner
- Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love hair milk (I haven't used it all summer, will return to it in the winter).
My list of products are pretty simple and short. I can't have too much products in my hair because I get build up very easily. I still consider my hair in the TWA stage however, it is gaining length rapidly. I do not have any intentions of straightening my hair or doing a blow dry, as of right now. I'm just happy and content with watching my seed grow into a blossoming flower. Ladies, do not give up on the journey. Natural hair takes time, care, love, and most importantly patience!
